Master class and didactic concert 🇮🇹

On Saturday, January 29th, our students enjoyed an online didactic concert and master class held on Zoom by tuba player Gianmario Strappati from Italy.

Gianmario is an Italian soloist and Ambassador of the Don Bosco Missions for Music in the world (Missioni Don Bosco ONLUS), who has recorded for CNN, Rai, Vatican Radio, Rogers TV, and Sky Classica.

The session began with a live presentation and accompanying explanations of some repertoire for tuba and piano. Gianmario also talked about his experience as a musician giving recitals around the world and took the opportunity to give advice and technical explanations concerning breathing and vibrato, as well as explaining general concepts and providing examples of technical exercises for daily practice.

The program lasted one hour, with repertoire including composers such as W.A. Mozart, J. Williams, A. Lebedev, A. Piazzolla, N.R. Korsakov, and V. Monti, among others. Toward the end of the session, Gianmario then answered questions that had been sent using the Zoom chat function.

It was an enjoyable experience for all, during which we were truly able to see the quality of the students we have – primarily children who knew how to take advantage of a valuable opportunity such as this, all while being very respectful, participative, and thoroughly enjoying this live concert.💙

Music courses in 2021

In February and March of 2021, we offered vacation courses during which students formed ensembles with different musical instruments, culminating in final performances. The performances were filmed and subsequently published on our YouTube channel.

We would like to take this opportunity to share some photos of our vacation courses with you, and to thank you, as always, for your continued support and collaboration.

For our first cycle of regular courses in the year, which took place from June to August, we again filmed the final presentations of our student ensembles before uploading them to our YouTube channel, since the pandemic continued to prevent them from performing with an audience present. We also gave certificates to those who had completed their classes.

Here are some of the photos from our first cycle of regular courses in 2021:

From October to December, we held our second cycle of regular courses for 2021, during which our students again formed ensembles and performed Christmas presentations to close the year’s activities. At long last, they were once again able to benefit from the in-person support of their parents and relatives during the presentations, since the event could finally be held with an audience present for the first time in two years since the start of the pandemic.

Thank you for joining us throughout the past year!💙

Here are some photos of the presentations from that day:

To bid farewell to the year, we also shared a short video in which our students present Christmas songs to an appreciative audience.
