We organize music classes for wind, percussion and stringed instruments.
We also offer classes in modern and classical dance, physical training and gymnastics for children aged 3 and up.
Our volunteers also help us provide other services to the community such as language courses and other training workshops on a seasonal basis.
We provide an alternative space to counteract violence, drugs and criminal groups by creating constructive leisure opportunities in low-income neighborhoods. We strive to allow children, youth and adults to express themselves through music and to take part in other activities that foster both their own personal development and the development of their community.
Access to art and culture is a fundamental right that can help shape the personality of every individual. the arts provide opportunities to develop self’expression and communication skills, and in many cases also contribute to the workplace, improving the quality of life of those who hace access to them.
Clave de Sur in figures: It is difficult to quantify our day-to-day work, but here is some data showing what we have achieved since 2005.
The first classes we organized were conducted with instruments made from recycled materials, such as plastic bottles and wood. Thanks to the perseverance and support of many generous people and organizations, today we can provide classes with more sophisticated musical instruments in improved facilities.
We provide training in two fundamental areas -music and dance- as well as training in other topics related to comprehensive personal development.
We organize classes in musical theory and performance, with individualized attention.
We also offer classes in modern and classical dance, technique and exercises.
We organize training workshops on topics related to comprehensive personal development.
We also work together with other organizations to develop joint projects.
They are always cheerful, creative and very dedicated to music. They try to involve parents and the community by giving free concerts, organising workshops and meetings. For me Clave de Sur became more than just a working space. It became a home, a meeting place for friends and family. I can definitly recommend this project!
Germany
It was the best vacation of my life. I had a wonderful time, and the language was not a problem. I always felt free and safe to talk to them. A highly recommendable experience. If you have the opportunity to go there, meet people, and get to know the culture, I would say don’t hesitate, go and enjoy your time in Guasmo Sur!
Brazil
This community music project is completely governed by the young people themselves, which shows a real interest on the part of the organizers to care for the whole community through their projects. I highly recommend this organization to anyone interested in volunteering. You will learn a lot, not only about this amazing place, its people and culture, but also about yourself. You won’t regret it!
